Survey: What Our Weather Would be in the Next 30 Years

Dear Greensters,

SHIRLEY is here!

Because of its closeness to the equator line, Indonesia only experiences both rain and sun, no winter nor fall season. Its a tropical country. Usually, Indonesia has their rainy season from October to April and the sunny season during June to September. Now it's August and it's raining and it's kind of chilly. The exact opposite of what should be happening.

Here is the result of the survey that me and other people think of what will happen to the weather in the next 30 years.

Shirley (grade 8):
I think that in the next 30 years from now the weather will be unpredictable. We can't predict whether it'll be summer next month or winter next month. That I think will happen.

Sharon (grade 6):
In 30 more years, I think that when I wake up, it will be sunny but in the afternoon snowflakes will be pouring down in the garden and when I'm going to sleep the trees that surrounds my neighborhood will start falling down like in Autumn.

Ika (37 years old):
In 30 more years, I think that it might always rain because the ice in North pole is melting and if the ice turns to water, the water will evaporate more and when it evaporates more there will be more rain.

Nadila (grade 8):
Hmmm.... It would be HOT because of global warming I guess. It will be hot because people will get richer and richer and they will have many projects, like building an office, a factory, etc. The physical environment like trees will be reduced as it is changed with buildings. Since many buildings are build, pollution will increase and cause global warming.

Renny (38 years old):
The weather might be chaotic. But it might also not be chaotic because maybe in the future there may be technology that can help and scientists can also help by doing researches to help the weather stay normal.

Debby (39 years old):
With a complicated weather like this combining with so much pollution nowadays, I think the weather will be more unpredictable. We might have snow falling from the sky in this tropical country. The climate would be hotter in some parts of the area on the Earth and some would be cooler.

Greensters,
We can help too. We can start by reducing the use of cars and motorbikes and start using bicycles to travel. It might be hard to travel a long distance with bicycles, so to decrease the smoke coming out from the car and motorbikes, we can just use public transportation to decrease the pollution because by using public transportation, less cars and motorbikes are used individually. But its is advisable to use bicycle if you are travelling in a short distance.

Thank you
