Craft at Badung Market: Stick Creation!

These are the results of pencil cases and frames from sticks
 Dear Greensters,

Hey, my name is Javier.

I want to share my experience when I went to Badung market to teach how to make a pencil case and photo frame from ice cream sticks. By the way, Badung market is the largest traditional market here in Denpasar. I usually go there for teaching poor children with the Green Team Indonesia. Those children work as 'buruh suwun' or carrying our shopping stuffs for money. Most of them cannot read or write.

We brought 2 packs of ice cream sticks. Each pack has 700 sticks. We also brought 6 packs of glue and some decorations for the photo frames and the pencil cases. We need 91 sticks to make one pencil case and we need 25 sticks to make one photo frame. And all we need is only a patience to make it because we need to glue and stick the sticks together one by one to make our creations.

These are what we need: sticks, glue and decorations

When we made the pencil case and the photo frame,we didn't have enough glue and decoration. We ran out of them, but at least everybody was happy to make it. They didn't have enough patience to do it at first, but they made it really neatly and they made it really good. They put the decoration with their own idea / creation.

Do you know which one is me? :)
It was really fun teaching them. We spent almost 3 hours there. We also brought some snacks for them.

This is the hall where we usually teach

Thank you for reading!

Best Regards,

Javier
