With miss Ayu Hartini (CSR & Green Practices Manager of Surfer Girl) |
Patricia here :). Been a long time since I wrote in this blog. Sorry. I've been busy these days. First, I was chosen as one of "Kidpreneur Awards" finalists so I had to go to Jakarta for a week. Next, after I got back from Jakarta, my beloved Grandpa passed away. It was so sudden. I had to fly to my mom's hometown the day after he passed away. Then, when I returned home, I had to do my exams. My exams were actually already starting when I left so I had to take the exams alone. But even though we don't post in our blog, we still "Spread the word of Kindness" and do volunteering works. We just don't have time to write. So we'll start writing again and update our blog :)
Anyways, today, I'm going to talk to you about my trip to Surfer Girl's office few months ago. Why was I there? It's because I was chosen as Surfer Girl's Green Ambassador again!! I am so happy. I came there because I was going to sign my contract for year 2013 - 2014 with the Surfer Girl. Thank you for all your supports. Especially Surfer Girl for the support, trust and another chance. Also thank you for all of my friends that always support me and listen to all of my crazy ideas hehehe…. THANK YOU to all of The Green Team readers out there. Thank you everyone.
By the way, Surfer Girl is very concerned in the Environmental issues in Bali and across Indonesia. They have regular CSR (Care Share Respect) programmes and green practices. I admire Surfer Girl because they really do care about the Environment.

Rain water collection ground tank |
Here are some of the things that I saw in their office that is soooo Environmental friendly:
Rain Water Collection Ground Tank:
Surfer Girl has a Rain water collection ground tank just outside their office. The capacity of the tank is 37,000 litres. The rain water stored in the tank is recycled for fresh water purposes in the building. This proves that Surfer Girl is concerned about the decrease of ground water supplies on Earth. This system is really good during the rainy seasons where you can get many water. Surfer Girl has also a system called "Replenishing the fresh water table". When the tank is full, the system will return the rain water into the soil.

Mini garden on the wall |
I call this one as "mini garden on the wall". Why? Well of course, it's because they plant plants on a bamboo pole that's hanging on the wall. This is placed near the Rain water collection ground tank. In another Surfer Girl's office, they even re-use plastic bottles as pots for plants and hang them on the walls.
Separated garbage disposals:
Separated garbage disposals |
Inside the office, there are 3 garbage bins. Lets give them names, A,B and C. Garbage A is special for organic garbage. Garbage B is special only for plastic, glass, and metal. Garbage C is special for paper so that it's easy for them to recycle it.
Emergency stuffs |
Last but not least, I'm also amazed with Surfer Girl's emergency route map because it's very clear, very effective and very safe. It's posted on the wall. They even have a fire blanket hanged on the wall, fire alarms that can be used in emergencies, and fire extinguishers. They even mark the location of the first aid kits on the map so people can easily find it when it's needed.
