Bar Soap Making at Badung Market (Video & Recipe)

Dear Greensters..!!!

SHIRLEY here!

Today we went to the market to teach the kids over how to make bar soaps. There were around 15 kids who attended the class today because some of them went back to their villages for some ceremonies.

The kids had their own interest in learning how to make the bar soap. The older ones was the ones who cut the not yet ready soap into smaller pieces. They were also the ones who mixed the Stearic Acid and the cut soaps. While the smaller kids were the ones who molded the soap into rose shape. By the way, we also uploaded part of the VIDEO when we were teaching at the market.

Let it stand for 2 - 6 hours before using for bathing

Ananda explained about the bar soap making process

The class was started by Ananda as the leader 'teacher' today. He explained the ingredients needed to make bar soaps. Each ingredient has their own purpose.

If you want to make your own bar soap, here's the recipe:

HOW TO MAKE BAR SOAPS:
Ingredients:
1 kilograms of Chip Soap
5 grams of oil soap dye
50 cc perfume
250 grams Stearic Acid

Tools:
Sari cut the Chip Soap into small pieces
  • 2 pans
  • Stove
  • Wooden spoon for stirring
  • Plastic mold (we use pudding molds)
  • Knife
How to make
  • Cut the Chip Soap into small pieces to make it easier for melting.
  • In 1st pan: melt the Stearic Acid with medium heat. Put aside once it's melted.
  • In 2nd pan: melt the Chip Soap.
  • Pour the 1st pan of melted Stearic Acid into the 2nd pan of melted Chip Soap. Stir well.
  • Pour the oil soap dye and the perfume inside the mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into molds until it is finished.
  • Let the soaps stand for 2 to 6 hours until it becomes solid. You can use the soaps for bathing after 6 hours or the other day.
We use pudding molds for molding the bar soap
For your information:
  • Chip Soap is a transparent base soap with no fragrance and no additives. Here in Indonesia, it is also called 'glycerin soap' or MP Soup (Melt and Pour).
  • Stearic Acid is an additional ingredient in soap making as emulsifying agent to form a cream solution or as a skin softener or moisturizer. It is used to make the finished soap become solid faster.
Thank you for reading.
Komang and Kadek Baju poured the mixture into molds
