Swimming with the SHARKS!

Hello!

Patricia here :)

Today, I want to talk to you about swimming with the sharks. I know it sounds scary because people always think that "sharks are dangerous and can kill us", but it's actually not.... The sharks are still babies.. They're not as harmful as the adult ones. So anyways, I went swimming with the sharks on around July last year. I must say thank you to Surfer Girl who gave me, as the Surfer Girl's Green Ambassadorthis wonderful chance to experience swimming with the sharks in Serangan Island. :)

The sharks were mostly the black-tip reef sharks. There were around 17 reef sharks that time. The place I went is a kind of conservation for the sharks. Why? Because the most threat to the sharks are humans! Yes, we are the threat to the sharks because fishermen like to hunt them and kill them! So, this conservation (Bali Sharks) tries to save the sharks and release them one day.

Back to the swimming time, I was scared at first but after I tried, it was actually fun! I've got tips for you if you want to go swimming with the sharks. Here you go:

Don't apply sunblock on your skin:
Even though you are so tempted to use sunblock, please don't do that! Why? Because sunblock can poison the sharks.

Don't have bleeding wounds:
Even though these sharks are still babies, they can still attack! The wounds that bleed might attract sharks to bite you.

Don't be panic or move quickly:
These sharks are very sensitive to fast movements. It may attack you if you shock them. Swim calmly and don't scream a lot.

Bring an underwater camera or video:
It's so fun and becomes a new experiment when you swim with the sharks. It will become nice photographs or videos if you can shoot the pictures with an underwater camera or video.

So, now that you know the tips. You can now go swimming with the sharks safely and happily.
Thank you for reading and have a nice day :)

PS: Thank you to Mr. Paul (from Hawaii) who accompanied us to swim with the sharks. He is the hero behind this shark conservation in Serangan Island.

Sincerely,

Patricia TGT xoxo
